Quickly Open a Website in Mozilla Firefox with an Alphabet
April 28, 2008 – 11:00 pmI don’t know if you have ever heard about this Firefox tip but what the heck, I am posting it to enlighten others who never heard of it. Did you know that one of the quickest ways to open your favorite web page in Mozilla Firefox is to enter a keyword for its bookmark?
Here is how I did it in a systematic way:
1- Create a folder to store all your favorite bookmarks with the Firefox’s Bookmark Organizer: Bookmarks -> Organize Bookmarks. For example, create a folder named “Quick Bookmark“.
2- Open one of your favorite website and save the bookmark to that folder by pressing CTRL + D or by using the menu bar, Bookmark -> Bookmark This Page. If you already have your own bookmarks, start moving them to this folder.
3- Open the Bookmark Organizer again. Right click on the previous bookmark and select Properties.
4- On the keyword field, enter a keyword for that particular bookmark. For example, I type in “g” for Google (without the quotes). Any letters / phrases will do, as long as you can remember and relate it to the website URL.
5- Repeat step 2-4 for all your favorite websites.
The next time you want to access any of those websites, you just have to press CTRL + L to point your cursor to the Firefox’s Address Bar and key in the keyword that you have entered previously. Therefore, instead of having to type google.com previously, now I just have to type in “g” and press ENTER to access Google.
Keyboard loving users will absolutely love this tip.

Whoa! Great tip man! I never even knew you could do that! Yeah I hate using the mouse and my touch pad is starting to crap out on me, so I’m basically left to the keyboard until I get a new computer.
I also like using a customized start page like Only2Clicks to access my favorites, but this is great too! Thanks
