I Use FriendFeed, Make Me Your Friend

April 24, 2008 – 11:00 am

I’ve heard about FriendFeed about a month ago but only tried is seriously this morning. To enlighten some of you, FriendFeed is a free service enables you to put all your online social accounts (aggregate is the best word) into one page where others can see all the things that you do online and vice versa. After a couple of hours dabbling with FriendFeed’s options and subscribing to a few friends’ FriendFeed, I can see why it’s becoming hugely popular nowadays.

Here are some of the cool things that you do with FriendFeed:

  • Subscribe to a friend’s FriendFeed to know all about their activities online – I just found that some of my fellow bloggers are hardcore Twitter users!
  • There are currently 35 services that you can add to your FriendFeed so you can share almost anything that you do with the world – Flickr, Digg, Twitter, Last.fm, Youtube and more.

  • Instantly leave comments on any of your friend’s online activities, from a single site. For example: you can comment on a cool Flickr photo shared by a friend.

  • Learn about your friend’s friends (lol!) by looking at their subscriptions.
  • Show some appreciation! Instantly make a friend knows that you like something that he/she was sharing with “Like“.
  • Click on a particular service link e.g. Twitter to view all of your friend’s Twitter activities.

  • Make more friends by looking at the Everyone’s FriendFeed.
  • Quickly share a link using the “Share Something” option or you can opt to use the FriendFeed’s bookmarklet.
  • Check out the statistic of popular services that most of your friends are using. Maybe you need to start using the same services too!

  • Want to add a friend but he/she is not using FriendFeed? No problem! You can create an “imaginary” friend!
  • Use the search function to find out what is the current buzz among your friends.
  • You can also subscribe to a fellow friend’s FriendFeed with a feed reader or by email.
  • Show off all the things that you do online by adding embedding FriendFeed’s widget to iGoogle or at your own website.
  • Reply to a friend’s Twitter messages directly from FriendFeed’s website.

End note: A definitely must have service if you are an online junkie. Go check out my FriendFeed here (and don’t forget to add me as your friend!).
