Quickly Check Your Windows System For Vulnerabilities

April 18, 2008 – 10:37 pm

Unlike UNIX machines, Windows based systems are more likely to have security holes - which mean that your computer is vulnerable to hacker attacks, viruses, etc. If you are looking for a way to quickly check your Windows system for any vulnerability, be sure to check out Protector Plus’s Windows Vulnerability Scanner.

Protector Plus’s Windows Vulnerability Scanner requires no installation so you can run it quickly by pressing the “Scan” button to let this tool scan your Windows computer for any system vulnerabilities. Once the scan process is completed, a Windows system vulnerabilities list will be created, complete with their risk levels (critical, important, moderate, etc). You can click on any of the Microsoft Security Bulletin code to open up a browser window that will show you details on each particular vulnerability. Next step for you to do is to update your system (duh!) by downloading the appropriate patch from the exact same page.

Proland Software will continue to update this tool to be able to detect newer Windows vulnerabilities so make sure you bookmark the Windows Vulnerability Scanner download page to always stay up to date with the latest version.

Windows Vulnerability Scanner will work with these versions of Windows only:

  • Windows Vista
  • Windows XP (Home & Professional) Service Pack 1, Service Pack 2
  • Windows 2000 Professional with Service Pack 4
  • Windows 2000 Server with Service Pack 4
  • Windows 2000 Advanced Server with Service Pack 4
  • Windows 2003 Servers
