How to Create Jaw Dropping Music Videos From Your Image Collection

Based on the catchy title above, I am actually not bluffing. I’ve discovered a cool online tool to create fantastic, professional looking videos based on your image collection (I’m quite late to discover it, considering the entire buzz here). It is called Animoto, and yeah, it rocks big time.

Animoto was created by real TV and film producers to help the not-so-creative-people out there to create their own music video the easy way. The process to create a video in Animoto is pretty simple, which took only takes three steps to finish. First, you need to upload your images from your desktop to Animoto and the suggested number of images is between 15 to 20. You can also opt to retrieve your pics from online photo sites such as Flickr, Picasa, Smugmug, Facebook or Photobucket. You can also choose some pictures to be highlighted more in the videos (this is called spotlighting).

Next, upload or choose a song that you think will suit your video best. There are some pretty decent songs available at Animato, ranging from classics, Latin, hip-hop and more.

The last step is to finalize your music video. At this point, you can fill in a title that will appear at the end of your video, a-la MTV. Now you can sit back and relax for a few minutes while Animoto works its wonders.

Here is a sample video that I’ve created in less than 15 minutes,

Pretty decent eh? If you don’t like the automagical effects of the video, you can remix it over and over again until you get your desired results. Animoto guarantees that no two videos will be the same. Furthermore, you can share your Animoto videos with friends via email, download it to your desktop, embed it into your blog or export them to Youtube.

What I really love about Animoto is that it is very simple to use and the effects created are fantastic! The only downside is that it only allows you to create a 30 seconds video for free. To create a full length video, you need to fork out $3 per video or pay $30 a year to create unlimited number of videos (which are pretty decent deals for a cool service!). Check out Animoto today!

  3. @Madhur: True, if you subscribe to the full service. 30 seconds is not enough for full documentaries.
