PodMailing - Send Gigabytes of Files for Free

March 20, 2008 – 3:53 pm

We send a lot of file attachments via email, for work and play. One of the most frequently asked question about email attachments is how to bypass the file size limit. Thankfully, there are many ways to send large files for free today. Some web services such as Drop.io requires you to upload your file to a file server and then send the download links to the recipient, which is quite nice. Recently, I stumbled for yet another way to send large files to bypass the email attachments limit, which is via PodMailing.

The beauty of PodMailing is that it lets you to send virtually any size of files to any recipient with just an email address. Newbie, moms, grandmas will absolutely love this because it has a simplistic interface - it works just like composing an email. You only need to supply these information: your name/nickname, your email address, and the recipient email address (okay, it will be more than three if you choose recipients instead of a recipient!). Using the easy to use interface, you then need to attach your file and PodMailing will email the recipients automatically with a download link to that particular file. As simple as that.

PodMailing Features

  • It use a hybrid BitTorrent technology - if you are the only person that shares a file and you are offline, a recipient can still be download it from PodMailing servers for the first 30 days. Another advantage is if there is more than one people that offers your uploaded file, download speed will increase significantly (that is why P2P BitTorrent is a cool technology!)
  • Send large files that have no limit in size.
  • Two file download options - a recipient can choose to download a file via PodMailing (.zed file format) or using a BitTorrent client such as uTorrent (.torrent file format).
