Download Last FM Songs with Free Music Zilla
January 26, 2008 – 4:01 pmLast.fm, if you haven’t heard of it, is a free service that learns your music listening habit (they call this “scrobbling”), and gives you music recommendations based on what kind of music / artists that you like. You can also use Last.fm to connect with other people which listens to similar artists / music genre and check out what others love to listen to right now (social music discovery).
The only problem with Last.fm is that you can’t download the music recommended to you! This is true, before Free Music Zilla arrives on the music scene. With this free software, you can download Last.fm song files with ease.

Features of Free Music Zilla
-
Able to download songs from Last.fm and other social music provider / social networks - Imeem, Pandora, Digg, MySpace and more.
- Dumb-free, lightweight interface.
- Supports for most of popular web browsers - IE, Mozilla Firefox, Maxthon and Opera.
- Free for all!
How to Download Last.fm Songs to Your PC
1- Download Free Music Zilla, install it like any standard Windows application and click the icon on the desktop to run it.
2- Click “Tools -> Preferences” on the menu bar. If you want to change the download location of Last.fm music files, change the folders on the “Downloads” section based on your preferences.
3- Next, start up your Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox web browser and open the Last.fm web page.
4- On the “Start Listening with Last.fm field“, type in your favorite music artist. Click the “Play” button. You will be taken to the particular artist music page.

5- Due to the nature of Last.fm, the returned results page will show you similar artist’s song based on your previously selected favorite artist. Click the “Play” button to start playing the song.

6- Before the song finished playing, open Free Music Zilla again. You will notice that it had successfully grabbed the song currently played on the Last.fm page. If you want to download it, select the song and click the “Download” button. The song will be successfully saved to your previously selected folder.

Based on my experience, File Music Zilla (is “Zilla” a word of the year nominee?) does really integrate well with Last FM. I’ve managed to download a few good songs related to my favorite artists. Hopefully, the next version of FMZ will work with the local Last.fm client too because I seldom listen the music to Last.fm from the web page. Other than that, it is a nice app to boot for music lovers.

WOW!
Well-timed post.
I had used Last.FM earlier, but didn’t like partial songs and then stopped hearing on last.fm.
Then I heard very recently that they’re offering full songs and then I read this!
Great post, I’m downloading this right now and heading to last.fm.
