Recover Deleted, Accidentally Erased File with Piriform Recuva
January 16, 2008 – 6:40 pmRecuva is yet another free software program from Piriform, the creator of Piriform Defraggler and the much loved CCleaner. Recuva (pronounced as “Recover”) was created to help users undelete or recover accidentally deleted files from their personal computer.

To recover any loss files / folders, a user needs to select the drive (FAT / NTFS format supported) that they want to recover it from, and click the “Scan” button to let Recuva works it wonders. Once it was done, recovery results will be shown at the bottom part of Recuva’s interface.
The most important step is to check out the “State” tab to know the chance of recovering a file - “Excellent” means the file is recoverable while “Unrecoverable” means vice versa. It all depends on the location of the deleted file on your disk - if it has been overwritten then you are not in luck. Choose a file and click the “Recover” button to start the recovery process.

In my opinion, Recuva is very simple to use and I love the way it scans my C: drive in just a few seconds. It shows convincing results when I tested it, I even manage to recover few deleted files! Yet another well-developed application from Piriform.
Download Recuve here. It is free and you don’t have anything to lose to use it!

I used Piriform’s Recuva, very successfully, the first time out. It scanned the (C:) Drive taking one hour and fifteen minutes (in the deep scan mode) and found 41,598 old deleted files! Still haven’t figured out how to check more than one little box beside each file recovered to bulk permanently delete. As it is, I can easily permanently delete one file at a time, but it would be sooo cool to be able to check, like twenty-five files at a time, and then tell Recuva to permanently delete all of them with a single click, and then a confirmation click of the action afterward. My hunch is you can do this with Recuva, but I imply haven’t figured out HOW yet. Any help with this one? I am 64, so it takes me a minute. Thanks a million for a great little file recovery program. I cannot believe the stuff this program actually found, some from the Dark Ages!
