Generate In-Depth Hard Disk Usage Report with Xinorbis
January 11, 2008 – 11:53 amThere are currently many free programs that you can use to check hard disk usage, making it easier for users to spot valuable disk spaces that goes to waste. Xinorbis Disk Analyzer is one of them, and it analyzes and provides decent in-depth hard disk usage reports while providing an easy to use interface, making it accessible even to end users.

Before anything, download Xinorbis and install it first. After startup, Xinorbis will provide a quick start screen that enable users to select files or folders to analyze. This really makes it easier for end users to start using Xinorbis in no time.

The hard disk usage page will then open up once Xinorbis finished analyzing disk/directories that you choose above. The most interesting aspect from Xinorbis’s report is that it groups your hard disk usage based on categories such as music, programs, graphics and more, thus making it easier for users to know what type of files really consumes their hard disk. If you don’t prefer bar graphs, a pie chart view is also available.

Other than that, Xinorbis also provides different reporting views called “Screen Report Tabs” to check out your hard disk usage from different perspectives - table, tree list, directory list, file magnitude and more. I love the report that shows files based on its creation date - my old files that should be deleted long ago are available here! The ability to check out the top 50 largest files is another useful reporting tab in Xinorbis.

To further enhance the usage of categories in reports, you can add file extensions to existing categories or create a new categories from Xinorbis Preferences page.

Another way to use Xinorbis is to compare drives/directories side by side, as shown in the image above.

Xinorbis also provides excellent hard disk reporting tool. You can save your report automatically in HTML or XML files. For directory scans, your last 50 analysis will always be available from the Xinorbis interface.
Finally, Xinorbis is really a fantastic tool to analyze and check out your computer hard disk usage. The in-depth reports really helps in spotting big, unused files inside my PC waiting to be deleted! If you are really in need to free up some hard disk space, give Xinorbis a try!
