Quickly Access Microsoft Office Documents with Launchy
January 9, 2008 – 12:27 amLaunchy is probably one of the most useful applications installed in my personal computer. For those who never heard of it, Launchy is a free application launcher that efficiently revolutionizes the way we access applications, files and folders - and you don’t have to remember where they are.
The execution is darn simple, tap Alt + Space and type what you want to access/open! In this post, I will show you a simple trick on how to use Launchy to index all your Microsoft Office documents (.doc, .xls, .ppt etc.), thus making it easier for you to access them.

If you haven’t got it installed, download Launchy , quick! Then tap Alt+Space to open Launchy. Right click on Launchy and select Directories.

The “Directory” settings box will open up. The section that we are interested in is “All Directories “, on the right of the box. The goal is to add all Microsoft Office file extensions to this section.

Once you are finished adding the extensions (.doc,.xls,.ppt etc.) click the OK button to close the Settings page. The indexing process will take some time to finish.

The next time you want to access your files, just type in the first few letters (you still have to have some idea what files that you want) and Launchy will find it for you in an instant.

Isn’t Launchy great? Try it today!
