Scan your PC for Running Processes with Uniblue ProcessScanner
January 1, 2008 – 8:50 pmProcessLibrary.com is one of PC Magazine Top 100 Classic Website because of its usefulness in providing detailed system information. It helps users to know more about running processes inside their PC by providing a comprehensive database of detailed process information on Windows.
For example, if you don’t know what svchost.exe is, you can just go to this site and look it up. To provide better usage of this directory, ProcessLibrary creates a free desktop process scanner called Uniblue ProcessScanner.

How UniBlue ProcessScanner Works
UniBlue ProcessScanner is a very simple program. Download ProcessScanner here and click the “Start process scan” button to start scanning your PC.

Once it is finished, this freeware will connect to ProcessLibrary.com to show you the process scanning results.
ProcessScanner Online Report
I love the way the reports are shown in a clean and concise manner. Processes can be sorted by clicking on the tabs shown above (All Processes, Security, Network, Performance and Autostart).
One of the most useful columns in my opinion is the Performance column. From my test results, now I knew that RescueTime is under “Medium Memory Usage“, which is a good thing considering what it does for me. From the basic table alone, you will knew instantly if a particular process is autostarted with Windows or not. That is very helpful!

For detailed information about each processes, click on a particular process row - I am quite impressed with the depth of information that Uniblue ProcessScanner provides. A process search feature is also available if your list are humongous enough.
To summarize all this, Uniblue ProcessScanner is worth checking out if you want to learn more about processes running inside your Windows machine - who knows if there are any malicious processes resides there? To take it even further, you can also install ProcessQuickLink , another useful app that integrates with your Windows Task Manager for quick process check up.
Bonus Tip: Once you know that some processes are not that essential, disable it from autostarting with Starter. That will save up some memory resource!
