Quick Tips: How to Throttle Mozy Home Bandwith Speed
October 31, 2007 – 11:44 pmMozy Home is a free online storage that lets you store 2GB of files online. Mozy is great for automatic backups but if your files are quite large, it will take quite a long time to synchronize between your local and online backups. In this post, I will explain on how to throttle Mozy Home bandwith speed, based on your preferences - so it will not disrupt your online Internet activities.

Here is how to throttle Mozy bandwith speed:
1- Make sure the Mozy Home control panel is already open. Click the Configure button.
2- Click the Options tab.

3- Tick the “Enable Bandwith Throttle” checkbox and move the “Throttling Parameters” slider to reduce / increase Mozy Remote Backup bandwith usage. In this example, I move my slider to 32.0 Kb/second to accommodate my needs.

4- You can also set the above settings to work between certain hours or every time. I choose for Mozy to use low bandwith in between office hours. Just nice.

You are done. With these settings applied, Mozy Home will only consume bandwith depends on what you have set before. As easy as ABC.

Wow. This is a good service. As much as Gmail Storage. But the automatic online backup is not a great feature for bandwidth limited user. Except they have an unlimited broadband access, this service is a good one.
