Get Other People to Do The Search For You with ChaCha

Scott Jones and Brad Bostic had a nice idea to topple Google. They have created a search engine called ChaCha that not only offers normal, instant search, they also went the extra mile to hire people to assist you in searching for the most relevant results.

ChaCha (cha means search in Chinese, ChaCha makes it more quirky and cool!) is very easy to use. Instant search is free without signing up, but to have people to search for your (they call themselves “Guides”), you do have to sign up for the Live Guide services.

How to Use ChaCha LiveGuide Search

1- Sign up for the free service by opening up http://chacha.com and click the “Register to use a Guide” link.

2- Fill up the form, click “Submit” and open up your mailbox to find an activation mail. Open up the mail document, click the Activation Link and Walla!

3- Once your account had been activated, click the “Continue” button to continue your search.

4- Type in a search term, and click the “Search with Guide“ button.

5- A chat panel will open up on the left side of the ChaCha search engine screen. You will be connected to a Guide to assist you in your search.

6- Some things will probably happen here:

The guide may ask you more details on what actually are you looking for.
search results will be displayed on the right hand of the ChaCha screen.
You may be transferred to another guide which will have a higher level of expertise.

7- Once you have found what you are looking for, click the “I’m Done” button. If you are not satisfied with a guide, click the “New Guide” button to have another person helping you.

8- Show some appreciation to the service by rating the Guide using the smiley icons above your search results. Say thank you!

I am very satisfied with my ChaCha search experience! The guides are friendly, they give me relevant results and I am not going to complain because this is a free service! Try it today and leave out some comments to tell the world what you think about human powered search engine.
